Dec 29, 2010  How can I install IIS on Windows XP? I purchased an HP with Windows XP SP3, and now I would like to install IIS. However, the computer did not come with an install CD. Where can I get the necessary files to activate the IIS? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. H I have bought a mini notebook without a cd drive so can't install iis from disc. So i have intalled IIS6 from the downloads section. It has created the dir inetpub but doesn't work wen viewing sites with localhost.

The way is bit different from Windows XP, to install IIS on Vista Go to your control panel then Programs then open Programs and features from right pane tasks select Turn windows features on or off. Or Go to your control panel then switch to Classic view then open Programs and features from right pane tasks select Turn windows features on or off. Hint Till now, this step is equivalent to what we was doing in Windows XP (Control panel, add or remove program then add or remove windows components).

To install IIS, select Internet Information Service, then press Ok, Congrats you did and you do not need to have your Windows CD in your CD room. Sequel To configure your IIS Go to your control panel then System and Maintenance then open Administrative Tools then select IIS Manager. (You may find IIS6 Manager, this indicates that you’ve installed IIS 7 and IIS 6 and for each its configuration) Or Go to your control panel then switch to Classic view then open Administrative Tools then select IIS Manager. (You may find IIS6 Manager, this indicates that you’ve installed IIS 7 and IIS 6 and for each its configuration).
